My husband's new job is in Kemah but we're considering staying in San Leon, about 1 block from the bay. Does anyone know if the temperatures are cooler as you get closer to the bay?
Thanks

cooler as in like 98 instead of 100. yes.
Even more humid. Yes.
Do you really want to live right on the bay considering we have hurricanes?

In general, it's not a whole lot of difference in the summertime. Or put it this way - it may be 5-6 degrees difference, but it still feels just as bad in the beating sun.

I agree with everything posted. Unfortunately, we do not have a southern California climate, where temperatures are 25 degrees hotter inland compared to the coast.

We just moved to Kemah about a month ago. Our house is on Clear Lake (though we don't have a directly lake facing view). We sit out in the evenings and get a very nice breeze off the water, which is directly behind our lot.

However, if I take a dog for the walk anytime between 9 am and 7 pm, I about melt. It's HOT, and even being near the water doesn't mitigate that during the middle of the day. The Bay, I don't know about.

But, I will say, we have been surprised about how nice many of the evenings are, and the fact that mosquitos are virtually nonexistent because they don't breed in the brackish water.

The insurance may be an issue, but our storm trend is about once every 20 years.

I know. I usually just look at the most recent responses and go from there and I saw several "today's". I wonder how OP fared during Ike....
