Hi. I am getting ready to relocate to Houston with the Coast Guard, and will be working at the Sector office on Clinton Drive (off 610). Anyway, we are looking at some homes in League City, around the South Shore subdivision. What Kind of commute time am I looking at realistically? Is this a reasonable commute, and how does it compare with Clear Lake, Friendswood, and east Pearland?

Being on the Southeast side is a MUST for me, as my office may relocate to Ellington Field in about a year.

I would really appreciate any assistance/advice. A lot of folks are telling me Clear Lake, but nice rental homes are kind of sparse there right now, and we've seen some great looking places in League City.

Commute time? You left out a major detail. What time are you going to be on the road to and from work? I've worked around GP for years.

Whether you're taking 146 -> 225 -> Beltway 8 or I-45 -> Beltway 8 you're looking at 30-40 mins non rush hour or 45-60 mins during rush hour. If your house is closer to 146 then you'll be looking at a longer commute due to the construction and the fact it has many lights around Kemah. If you stay in Pearland close to Beltway 8 and passed I-45 you would be golden as you would avoid the rush hour traffic on I-45 altogether. Beltway 8 never gets traffic from the bridge over the ditch (ship channel) to way past Pearland.

I currently live in Dickinson off 646 and I-45 and drive to 610 East and I-10 East and during rush hour it takes me 50 mins and non rush hour it takes me 32 mins.

Good luck
