If you work in East Houston, there is nothing wrong with the HISD schools in the east end. How elitist to say that the 'western part of the 610 loop' of HISD is the only part of HISD to consider.

I agree with you about the schools on the east side, but this thread is meant for those people who are moving into town and looking for the "best" school. I am trying to inform people that they don't have to only move to the Woodlands, Katy, and Sugarland to get good schools. Maybe you can start a thread or post here the great experiences you have had on the east side. All are welcome here.

I think the above posters kids attend Eastwood Academy in east Houston. Here is a link that talks about it. Maybe we can get more information on the campus. It sounds pretty good.

This is a great idea! I'll add a post listing the good schools I know of near the med center when I get home.

It's a good start but it gets messy when people start to get neurotic on specifics. They HAVE to move to X neighborhood because X elementary is better than X and so on and so forth.

Then you get the "Okay so we're moving to Spring Branch....which elementary school" It's Spring Branch. Pick on, do your job as a parent and work with them at home too and they'll be alright. You know they're not dummies because you're not raising them to be so just chill and move. Welcome to Houston.

For West/Southwest out in Fort Bend County:
Sugar Land: Fort Bend ISD - Clements (highest ranking and most sought-after of FBISD high schools), Dulles, Austin, Travis HS just to name a few. High schools are 5A in size.
Fulshear/Richmond/Rosenberg: LCISD - George Ranch, Foster HS are top performers in the more affluent areas, as well as future Fulshear HS in 2016, but Lamar and Terry are well-run, safe schools that pull from mixed income areas. High schools are 4A size.

Oak Forest in HISD is one of the top raked elementary schools. It's also 20 minutes to downtown, Greenspoint or energy corridor offices.
