I am currently in California and am moving to Katy next month. I am curious on what Texans feel about Californians as well as people from other states moving to Texas. Please respond with your opinions.

We welcome everyone. I know of thousands of people who came from California to Katy. It seems to be their relocation hot spot. You won't find yourself neglected... until you figure out the way things work. Us Texans do things a little different than the rest of the country, I don't doubt it that one day Texas will break away from the country and become their own. You will be accepted, don't sweat it.

In general I could care less. Most of them won't buy IN Houston anyway. Why would they? You get a totally unglamourous house for over $200 a sq foot built on gumbo, if you want to buy in the Western Corridor. As long as they are upstanding citizens and have a job go ahead and come, just don't biotch about the commute and construction when you buy 35 miles outside of town. Check the attitude at the door and don't pretend to be a $80,000 a year millionaire. Houstonians/Texans won't go for that. Being a small fish in a big pond is not a bad thing. Most of the Houston "whales" pretend to be small fish anyway. Well, Except for BCT ...but she's in a class by herself.

I don't know of anyone that has issues with people moving here from other states. The only time it becomes a problem is when people move here and either ***** about the way things are here constantly, or ask people why we don't change certain things about our state or way of life. As long as you don't try those things, you'll be okay.

I don't know about Texans, but I don't think most Houstonians care one way or the other.

Who is BCT? I'm drawing a blank here.
