Galleria Mall is where you go to impress a date. You better have at least $10K to blow because you won't find anything under $100 there. If it wasn't for the skating rink, the Galleria Mall would be just another mall. I only go there once a year, and each time I'm reminded why I don't go as often. Too crowded, overrated and pretentious. Willowbrook Mall is the better mall in Houston, to me.

Buying a diamond ring in the mall is a bad idea anyway. What else you do to impress your date for $10K?

For me, we walk around Hermann Park in Downtown Houston and have small talk as we get to know each other. After that, maybe do dinner and a movie and go from there.

Not understanding the 10k figure unless you are visiting the high end stores. The mall has everything you need in it and also good for people watching if it is your thing. I personally prefer Memorial City Mall if I need a mall on a smaller scale.

You move fast, Casanova. From 'getting to know' directly to action after dinner and a movie all in a half day is impressive.

I would never go to the Galleria Mall even if I was a high schooler on a date.

I went to the Lego Store there last week with my wife. I didn't spend 10k.

The people I know who spend that kind of cash on clothing and accessories don't shop at the mall. They may go to boutiques near the Galleria, but not inside the Mall. Or, they have people do their shopping for them.

The last time I went to the Galleria on anything approximating a date, I was 14 and my Mom dropped us off in front of what was then the Joske's Dept store.
