Where will you be commuting too? I lived in silverlake for four years and I thought it was great, especially for families. Lot's of people from the medical field live there becuase of the easy commute to the medical center from 288. When I lived there it was maybe a 20 to 25 minute commute into downtown, but that was 3 years ago. Now Pearland has GROWN so much and it could be much worse.

Yeah, Pearland was at 37,000 in 2000. Now, it is at 82,000 (2006 estimate). Amazing growth down there.

My parents fiances parents currently live there. They love it. SO much growth in stores and people, they are building a mall on 518/288. Many other high impact shopping centers within 1 mile. Traffic to downtown during rush hour in the morning is between 25-35 minutes. Depending on the time.

Is there something specific you want to learn about the area?

It does depend on what you enjoy doing. We absolutely dread going up to that area because of the traffic, though there are a lot of big box stores and chain restaurants. The area's only going to get bigger -- a new community is going to add on parts of Manvel, Iowa Colony and Alvin, which are now mostly rural.

Still, we work in the Bay Area, and the Silverlake area is more convenient to people working downtown, Med Center, etc.
