There's another Redstone Arsenal mystery, that I can see on Google Earth. It's a quarter-mile running track, located at the intersection of Patton and Gray Rds. It doesn't look like it's been used for a long time. There's no jumping or throwing pits, no grandstands or any sign of use. There's big trees growing and now dying, in the infield. It's been there longer than 20 years, as the Google Earth archive from 1998 shows it. Long ago, an Army lieutenant, who was in charge of base recreation facilities, told me they were going to build a track there, but I thought it would never happen, until I saw this photo. Maybe they built it and no one came?
people use it for recreational, don't know if they have actual races. The ball/soccer fields across the street get good use as well.
