Because the possibility is still there and because if it were to happen would be a strong storm, FL gov has stated this afternoon that shelters may start opening tomorrow and evacuations of some areas could start as early as tonight. But too soon to tell what will happen and time running out should it aim at a highly populated coastal city in Florida.

But too early to know still. Coast hugging storms are so hard to get right...one little Wobble and onshore. Going to be close even if the majority of models end up being correct and take it into SC/NC.

Yes, even if it goes just offshore, hurricane force winds would still be felt in Florida. Hurricane force winds extend 60 miles out of the centre I believe?

Poor forecasters. Worst angle to come from. No idea where exactly landfall will be or if just wants to ride up the beaches. Either way.. entire east coast of Florida needs to have a plan in place. Coastal SC and NC too.

Too soon to mention evacuations.

After hitting SC, The Euro decides to turn around and make another landfall in Florida by heading SOUTHWEST then into the Gulf of Mexico.

WTF Euro. I don't wanna be talking about Matthew for another 10 days!!
