I'm having a hard time locating apartments that are not college housing. Granted, I'd prefer a house as I have backyard chickens but it doesn't appear that North Idaho is chicken friendly.
Any recommendations on finding housing not geared towards the college circuit? Usually I find places on craigslist when I relocate but it seems that what I'm looking at is college housing.
Also, are there any locations in North Idaho that are more pet friendly than others? I'm looking at Moscow because of the rating for raising a family and I'm a single mom but I work online so I can move anywhere. I just can't afford over $850 a month.
Thanks!

Most realtors in town also manage rentals. Perhaps Team Idaho Real Estate or ReMax can help?

I don't know what you mean by chicken friendly. They are legal in town. My neighbors in downtown Moscow raise them.

It just appears that most of the rentals aren't very pet friendly. I know back in CT, pet friendly was very hard to find. Here in OR, dog friendly is easy but cat friendly isn't. Chickens, well you need a house for that. But even just rentals allowing regular pets seems hard to find.

They are harder to find. College students tend to let their pets trash their rentals. Thus, not many LL's put up with it.

College students shouldn't have pets IMO.

With Moscow being a small town and a college town at that, the vast majority of the rentals will be for college students. I understand the pet policy because it doesn't mix with student life and they cannot make an exception for one renter. The non college friends I had while living there either moved into the college apartment complexes or bought a house.

I loved living in Moscow. It's a great town for raising a family. However, you might want to consider Coeur d'Alene - you may have an easier time finding rentals that allow chickens. However, pets and chickens are going to make the job of finding housing more difficult anywhere you go. It's not too difficult to find ones in the CDA area that allow one small dog, but outside of that you are going to have quite a search on your hands, I'm afraid. Do you relocate often? I seem to get that sense from your original post. I hope you finally find what you are looking for. Good luck!
