I'm in a motel room currently and will be looking at homes today. I'm looking at Athol, I was able to find a few 10 acre properties still under $350k?

I hope my Corvette and musclecars will be ok.

Plenty of car-centric activities up here. Most have their babies hibernating in winter. Season can run April to Nov or May to Oct. depending on the snow.

That would be on all season tires? On these types of cars you can put on chains as they will not fit in wheel well

Outside of snow/ice season, you can run whatever tires you desire. When there is snow and ice on the roads, you would be best to leave your 'toys' in the garage. That's what I plan to do with my semi-classic Mercedes coupé.

When I was up there last December, I carried a set of chains, but never needed to use them. Even though there was hard-pack snow and ice on most of the secondary and tertiary roads, the chains remained in the trunk. You'll learn pretty quick how to drive on ice.

I think most people who own these sorts of cars take them off the road for the winter and drive something else. Our sometimes messy road conditions aren't going to do any favors for the paint on a car.

If they were to drive them I'd guess they would put them on a set of dedicated winter tires, perhaps with studs.

Exactly! Forgot about that. Thanks for the reminder, Dave. I have a second set of wheels for the daily errand-runner and will swap wheels as required.

Both wife and I have 4WD vehicles with a separate set of winter tires. I like having the extra set because I can swap them myself. Most places charge like $40 to swap tires on rims and sometimes there is a mad rush at tire places with long waits. You can always find cheap stock rims. I follow the WA state law of Nov- 1 to May 31(for studs) since we are so close and travel there often. I carry chains as well. The Vette is lowered with wide performance tires and you can barely get two fingers between tire and wheel well. That comes out once the roads are decent and gets put away when it starts getting nasty. As an example, our club's "Spring Run" is April 30th and "Fall Run" is Oct 1. There have been years when it was nice at the beginning of April and as late as Thanksgiving. My car has road rash because I actually use it and drive 1000s of miles all over the PNW. The worst I have been caught in was slight snow on Thompson pass that was not sticking and occasional small hail. A lot of people with brand new cars put the clear 3M bra on nose cone and select locations behind wheels. The cars don't need a lot of prep to put away, just a car cover, trickle charger and you are done.

An alternative to the trickle charger is to start the car once a month or so and let it warm up before shutting it off. Store it during the winter months with ethanol free gas. Standard gas will go bad in about 3 months.
