"Are these people here illegally? Yes. Why? Mostly jobs. But maybe we ought to be asking ourselves who's providing the jobs. Or who owns the homes these immigrants are living in. Follow the money, and you'll be able to start to understand the complexities of the issue."

Why is it that the Mexican haters don't have the same vitriol for those companies that hire them?
Why don't you knock off the race card pulling? And yes, most Mexicans are of the Mestizo race.

We know many are here for the jobs. Tell us something we don't know. We have already addressed the employers and their part in this so don't pretend we haven't. There is nothing complex about this issue. It is employers desiring cheap labor and illegal aliens supplying it. Nothing complex about it all and they are both still breaking the law.

I just faxed OK Governor Brad Henry and all 3 Senators , Cole, Couburn and Inhofe.

HB 1804 is planned to be upgraded to Arizona's SB 1070 sometime this year.

I sent the whole article and ask "what's being done about it?"

Illegal aliens are like cockroaches...once they hear the place is free of foggers, they come scurrying right in!

The only heartbreaking thing in this article is the state of Oklahoma. Now they have to deal with them all over again.

The article indicates “many” Mexicans come here illegally due to fear. Why not address those so-called “fears” rather than accusing others of despising Mexicans. After all, that IS the topic of the thread.

Yes, we ALL know greedy employers are complicit in this mess, as well as the governments of both the U.S. and Mexico. However, Mexicans are hardly innocent victims. They know exactly what they’re doing. They realize they are displacing legal workers and depressing wages, but they don’t give a damn. So yes, they have earned our disdain.

As for illegal employers -- if you know the names of companies, why don’t you post it here so we can give them hell? I don’t see the employers flaunting their illegal practices. Nor do I see them marching in our streets demanding we embrace their lawlessness. Perhaps illegal Mexicans should try being a tad less arrogant and ingrate, and actually “live in the shadows” like their employers. They bring the vitriol on themselves.

So “Jessica” illegally came to Oklahoma to escape the violence in Monterrey, Mexico. Why didn’t she simply relocate to another region of Mexico? Are there NO safe locations within the entire country? Are we to believe their ONLY recourse is to illegally enter the US? Despite our sinking economy and high unemployment, they continue to come; not due to fear, but to use this country to the max. And, they have proven to be quite adept.

This “fear” article is nothing but another sob story intended to tug at our heartstrings. The poor, frightened Mexicans are coming here to escape violence. Well, boo hoo. Sorry, but my compassion is reserved for the IA children who are exploited by their narcissistic parents. I feel nothing for the adults; nothing whatsoever.

Oklahoma Law. . .
Quote:
The law featured 24 provisions, none more contentious than those that made it illegal to knowingly "transport, move, or attempt to move" an illegal immigrant. But a federal appeals court has since ruled that certain portions of HB 1804 can't be enforced.
Well isn’t that special. . . . the law can’t be enforced. If that’s the case, the Federal law is also unenforceable, because the provisions included in the Oklahoma law mirror those of the Federal law. Oh wait. . . DOJ didn’t file a lawsuit against Oklahoma for “preemption.” What’s wrong with this picture?

Federal Law. . .
Quote:
"(B) knowing or in reckless disregard of the fact that an alien has come to, entered, or remains in the United States in violation of law, transports, or moves or attempts to transport or move such alien within the United States by means of transportation or otherwise, in furtherance of such violation of law;

Why be angry with the illegal? Fair question.
Why be angry with the car jacker? Who is buying these stolen cars? Forgive the jacker for wanting a better life at your expense.
Most posters who are anti-illegal are very critical of those who hire them.
Who owns the homes? Thats a good question and a fair question.
Well often it is family and friends of the illegals. These same friends network to find jobs housing and illegal friendly neighborhoods.
Mexican haters. Not me thats for sure. I have no issue with any honest Mexican, or any other legal immigrant who applies for a VISA, waits for permission before entering. I would be happy to call them neighbor.
Now illegals of any nationality are criminals. I have issues with criminals and their entitlment mentality, the excuses they use to justify breaking laws, and of course those who make excuses for them. It would seem that most criminals regardless of what laws they break enjoy a support network. Friends and families who would seek to minimize the criminals misdeeds. Johnny was a good boy, he fell in with bad company. Juan is a good man, he just wanted a better life. He left his family and everything to come here. Now that he is here he has started a new family. So much for family values.

Personally, I don't hate illegal immigrants of any race.

And while I know that there is most definitely a draw to the U.S. for illegal immigrants in the form of jobs and various other taxpayer funded goodies, I can't help but wonder....

Why is it that those who espouse the gentle treatment of people who are in this country in direct violation of sovereign U.S. immigration law feel that said illegal entrants are not culpable in the least? Where is the personal responsibility? Do all illegal immigrants have the mental awareness of a two year old? Do they not understand the difference between right and wrong? And if they do, why are they excused from exercising said knowledge?

Just wondering.....
