It is not relevant if the rules were changed. What is relevant is that we have people using fraud to enter our Military and they need to be punished for this rather than rewarded.

This is totally not true. The very least you can be is a legal resident in order to join the US military.

What a minute! How do you enter the military when you are ILLEGAL! I have heard of legal immigrants that serve this country with illegal family members, but not Illegal Aliens serving in the military. Hello...the US does a background check! And I can bet that there are VERY FEW if so that try to serve in the military as an illegal. And if there are ANY...these people need to be awarded the BIG COJONES award for bravery!

i am certainly in favor of giving citizenship to illegals that serve say 2 or more years in our military. family? maybe a wife and kids....MAYBE, but definately no other family.

My problem with giving illegals the free pass is that they entered under fraudulent papers. Even a US citizen caught committing fraud to enter will receive an other than honorable discharge as a result. To grant citizenship to an illegal sets a double standard, and it rewards the behavior of fraud.

Very true. Also, it sullies our military.

Or the Darwin award. But I agree that is highly unlikely that many make it through the process without being discovered.
Here again even those with family members who are illegals. They by the book can not even claim them as a dependant. One needs to have valid SSN or green card numbers.
When marrying a foreign national. The service member must request permission from the branch they serve. A background check is done to verify that the person in question is.
1. Able to gain a VISA. In other words no criminal history.
2. Will meet the requirements that any other applicant must pass.
So those members with illegals for spouses either lied about their staus or married them on the QT which is a clear violation of the UCMJ.

It certainly does. Not to mention one must question where their loyalties actually are. When they swore the oath to the United States of America did they take it seriously or is just another part of the fraud?
