It seems rather foolish that Obama is war mongering with both Syria and North Korea but has the borders wide open. You'd think he'd want at least some protection of the American people. Oh well -- we're sitting ducks the way it is.

While our politicians have turned their heads to the problems being faced at the physical border themselves, a more effective way to keep people in those countries to the south of us is to allow them to build their economic base to keep their citizens in those countries. Its only logical for man to want better for his family, and the States appear to be a safe umbrella from the crimes and economic hardships being faced in those nations. The problem being presented now is do those countries have the financial resources to support making those nations a bit more first world? Probably not, so a temporary measure while we arrange our fiscal policy into exceptional order is to build stronger fences and hopefully discourage illegal immigrants from coming to the States because they won't receive the same benefits as a US citizen would.

Once America has the finances to help others out, I'm all for helping those countries out economically through federal aid. Unfortunately, I think if America was attempting to throw money at any situation, it should've been building things domestically and even offering our neighbors to the south assistance rather than starting two fairly pointless wars; now plenty of undocumented people roam our streets and they'll end up costing the country more than those wars combined. Eventually the undocumented people will be a benefit to our society, but at the moment they probably aren't paying taxes all while excepting wages and continuing to receive many of the benefits we all have.

Really? Let's hear what reasonable solutions that the left proposes then. I mean one that puts the American people first. I haven't heard of any from them.

A five year old would propose securing our borders? A five year old would remove the incentives for illegals to remain or continue to come here like jobs and benefits? That would be some smart 5 year old then.

You may be talking about the virtual fence. That project was abandoned because it had so many flaws and kinks in it that it ended up costing us millions of dollars and was worthless. I don't know why the flaws couldn't be corrected. I suspect that the powers that be didn't really want to stop the flow of illegal immigrants anyway and they wanted it to look like they were trying anyway and used the flaws as an excuse to abandon it.

Yes, amnesty. That does nothing for the American people however and in fact will just put millions in direct competition for jobs, benefits and resources. It will just encourage the next batch of illegals to come here and in 20 years we will be facing the same problem again. When does it end? Now that sounds like the solution a 5 year old might come up with.

Not undocumented. Illegal aliens. Spewing the PC language doesn't help the situtation any.

It's not really that hard to understand.

If you look at history the right has been trying to close the borders for years, Reagan, Bush. and the left has rried to stop them at every turn.

The left thinks that if they let the poor in, it will garnish votes for them because they have a history of giving things away to the poor with very little oversight.

What? Please provide a link that the right has been trying to close the borders for years? Reagan passed an amnesty and Bush pushed for one also so what are you talking about? Securing our borders is not closing them. There will always be legal ports of entry and we still allow in 1 million legal immigrants a year.

You are correct in your second sentence though.
