Despite the hard line stance against illegal immigration, Trump's policies appear to be ineffective at stopping the flow of immigrants into the country. Unauthorized entries are double what they were a year ago, to 76,000/month, as his policies have not discouraged migration. Most of these immigrants apply for asylum upon entry. The problem is not that the migrants are climbing fences, but that the administration is not caring for the immigrants adequately, either through the court system, deportation, or detention.

He needs to let the border patrol crack skulls and deport on sight.

"Trump's policies appear to be ineffective" -- there's an understatement.

Every time he tries to "fix" something, things only get worse.

He tried to fix trade deficits, and now our deficits are highest in 10 years.

He tried to fix national debt, and the debt is growing at an increasing rate.

He tried to fix middle class income, and yet more and more people see a dark road ahead.

He tried to fix illegal immigration, and more and more people come in.

Don't you see how this headline is perfect for an administration that needs to justify their emergency declaration? Interesting timing, don't you think?

The numbers are skewed by the recent caravans that the Left were encouraging to come. Previously during Trump's first and second year (in 2017 and beginning of 2018) before the caravans, we were hearing about how illegal border crossings were actually down from the Obama years.

The problem is the Dems are blocking attempts to stop illegal immigration and the Reps are too busy being wishy washy as usual.

This problem picked up speed under Obama with promises of Sanctuary and now that Trump is trying to take a hard stand on illegal immigration by building a wall the "migrants" are coming in force just in case we do get our act together and do get tough.

Imagine 76,000 people coming in one month to your town or city in need of housing, food, healthcare and education for their kids. Your town would be overrun and it is only a matter of time before the country is.

Well I guess America had a good run.

No, timing involved. The situation is what it is and the emergency is warranted.

This. Plus the media has given this so much publicity(and some have encouraged them too) that more illegals are trying to cross. In the Obama years especially with the mess he was left from Bush, illegal immigration was down because things weren't so great on our side either. Now the economy is hot and there is more opportunity and of course more people want in.

When you times that number by 12 its over 800,000 people. Our country cannot keep absorbing that many illegals and asylum seekers.
