Back to topic. No, Los Angeles did NOT deserve its civic government pandering to illegals, thinking this would boost a certain demographic's voting. We L.A. taxpayers do NOT deserve to pay for ever increasing services for illegals, services that we citizens never receive. Los Angeles does NOT deserve the ever increasing influx of violent gang members, many, many of whom are illegals, because of legal constraints against police to address illegal status of perpetrators. There are inumerable downsides to the out of control numbers of illegals in Los Angeles, crime being the one that eventually touches everyone here except its very richest, cocooned denizens.
Mara Salvatrucha formed in Los Angeles, and if anything, was exported to Latin America.
While comprised of many immigrants, it was formed to protect themselves from the mean streets of AMERICA.
Just like all other gangs.
And just like other gangs, what was once started for protection, degenerated to more violence, drugs, and crime. But gangs are a product of the rough environment of the inner city.
Like you blame immigrants for bringing gangs, places like El Salvador and Mexico blame America for teaching immigrants gang culture which has been exported to their home countries, and is spreading.
And as for that information, do some research. You dont even have to go much further than this thread...someone posted links already.
Newsflash: US roots for Latin American Gang and Drug Violence.
It has been found that the root of the Latin American drug and gang related violence is the US Penal system. Innovative criminal behavior is learned, taught and often encourage in US prisions. Surprisingly, this phenomena (behavior) has shown it to be most effective amongst the Latin American constituants in the Penal System. It is unknown why: perhaps the number of the study group or the physical proximities of the countries in question. It is from here they are exported down south, left to foster amongst its native population. As such criminal enterprise never being in existence before being brought in from the US, this study is limited in scope to those previously incarcerated in the US.
As its (Latin American) citizens apply the ideology of "reconquista" and migrate north, the US system has achieved a greater than 100% success rate; greater number returning that what was originally sent. It is here where the second of a two-pronged plan has let it remain a success: During the time where the ideology was left to grow down south, a politically correct environment was implemented where a failed lawyer and adulterer (alleged) was given the opportunity to become mayor of Los Angeles, partially from votes received from those recently back. He, along with a city council and the rest of the State of California's power base in tune with the plan originally set fort by the US Penal system, has made this revolution a rousing success. This unending, ever increasing circle of success has made the US and its Penal system the envy of every other developed country with a large number of hard working and peace loving undocumented immigrant class.

So you don't have a Democracy in LA? The folks who create your laws were not elected?

Once someone throws out the term "reconquista", they lose all seriousness in my eyes.

This is one of the many reasons why El Salvador and Mexico need to keep their citizens at home so they are not exposed to bad influences in the US.

Dont worry about those other countries. Worry about our country, the US.
How about we work harder to clean up the inner cities that have been breeding grounds for gangs and violence for decades?

Great! I agree we need to focus on addressing our own problems, not importing someone else's. Get the illegals out and let's use the money and effort we spend on them to help American residents of inner cities. Working to solve the problems endemic to our inner cities should keep us tied up for quite a while. We need to tell Guatemala, Honduras and the biggest offender, Mexico, that they will have to take care of their own citizens for a change because we are busy helping people living in poverty in the US.

For the record:
We as a nation have been 'cleaning house' concerning our 'local talent' (gangs)------we do not need fresh fodder (Mexicans, Russians, etc) for new gangs.

How's that been going?
Applying RICO laws to street gangs has been doing a fine job of putting more gangmembers in prison where they become more dangerous.
Are you implying that with no immigrants, America would have successfully eradicated the gang problem?
Either way, crime has gone much lower than the last decade.
