I was hoping for better. You have now resorted to the classic cop defense. We THE GUARD DOGS defend you sheep. Sure you do. But sometimes you do it by attacking the sheep...as actually happened in ths case. Therefore the sheep need some knowledge to keep our GUARD DOGS in line.
In this particular situation we presumed the cop had secured the premises and was taking a victim report. Bending over backwards he might be suspicious of the victim. But that is it. At that point he has a right to the guys name. He can ask for whatever...but the guy does not have to give it to him and he really has no basis for protective custody or anything of the sort. If he does so he is violating the guys constitutional rights. Knowing a little about cops that might well happen. Because cops are often willing to violate rights. They may well do it with good intent...but they do it.
So sorry that I disappointed you and didnt rise to the level of argument you expected..............
A very large percentage of this american population is incapable of defending its self from the ingrown pimps this society has allowed to develop...........and you know it

And you postulate that allowing themselves to be molested by the police will make it better?
How many of the neighbors who hear about this affair are going to call the cops next time. How many are now going to decline to talk to the cops when they witness something?

Illegal immigrant locked up after reporting crime.
Raleigh, NC — When Jose Luis Segura-Rios reported he was the victim of a home invasion, deputies asked him for identification.
When they discovered his Mexican ID to be fake, they locked him up.
Moral of the story: Don’t seek protection from U. S. law, when you are breaking it yourself!

Simple: check the immigration status of all of the individuals in question-----------problem solved.

And how many declined to talk to the police before this happened? How many legals decline to talk to the police when it involves one of their illegal friends? Its a wash and will make very little difference.

As a general rules hispanics and blacks in poor neighborhoods don't talk to the police. The police here complain about it all the time.
Given that sort of police behavior do you think it will get better.
And there are very few black illegals...so it is unlikely that is the problem.

I guess this idiot forgot he wasn't in Meheeco. . . .
Yes he deserved to be arrested for having a fake ID because it is the right thing to do. But no, he didn't deserve to be the victim of a home invasion - and he did the right thing by calling the police on someone who is here to do harm to others (citizen or not) that criminal deserves to be taken off the streets so he cannot prey on others. Even when someone is here illegally - they shouldn't be subjected to physical harm by others.
