Fantastic news. It's quite bittersweet considering the condition of our economy but at least there's something good to look forward to.

The problem is -- the Mexican economy is souring along with ours.

On the border, they are laying off in the maquilas. The peso has dropped in value so that a dollar buys more pesos. Violence is making many businesses shut down on the Mexican side and the business owners are moving them to the USA side.

And -- many are anticipating a great big USA citizenship give-away as soon as the elections take place as both candidates have promised an amnesty. Many who had left are coming back to get in on it. Many anticipate a big "family reunion" in the USA -- once the election takes place. Since they believe they'll be getting citizenship soon, they figure that will qualify them for benefits that illegals that can't have babies don't get.
