We moved to Kingsport from a town in Illinois that was 65% Hispanic...I could no longer read the signs in the stores. Now we may be moving to Nashville and am looking for areas that English is the primary language and that there isn't a taco stand on every corner. I know that this is not the Politically Correct stance but I've been there, done that, and have had enough. Could someone recommend communites within a 45 minute druive of Nashville that would my totally non-PC need?
The U.S. was discovered by Hispanics aka European Spaniards and a few Italians sponsored by the Queen of Hispania=España.
If you don´t want to live in a place were spanish is spoken sometimes, I suggest you to move to England or Australia, canada, etc.
English and Spanish have always been part of the U.S. culture and History.
Spanish was the first european languae spoken in the U.S.
Saint Augustine florida 1560.
You are complaining about the language... not the people.
Why don´t you try to learn spanish. it is always good to know a secondary language.
If an Amerindian Native aAmerican learned Spanish in Florida 500 years ago, I don´t understand why someone from the 21st century with a PC, Ipod touch, and all the resources can´t learn Spanish.

Those mexicans and other people are bilinguals.
Why are you implying that English is the official language of the U.S.?
The U.S. has no official language. English and Spanish are the most widely spoken ones and have been both used since the 16th century.
Even "United States of AMERICA" is written in both English and Spanish.

Christopher Columbus came here in 1492 and he was Italian so therefore it was probably Italian that was spoken here first. It matters not what langauge was spoken here first, second or third anyway. English was adopted as our national language (although not official as yet), not Spanish.
If one wants to learn another langauge that is their proagative but never should a foreign language be forced on us mostly due to an illegal invasion from south of our border. It is always customary, sensible and a sign of assimilation to learn and use the language of the host country one migrates to not the other way around. Why come here if you don't want to learn and use the language of this country?

Actually, Christopher Columbus didn't discover America. He landed on San Salvador. The closest he got to modern day America was sailing around Cuba.
To Edu983: While the Spanish were among the first Europeans in modern day America, they certainly weren't the only ones. The French and the English were here around the same time.
However, the Norse were on the North American continent far before any Europeans. Four centuries before Christopher Columbus sailed across the Atlantic from Spain, Leif Ericsson, a Nordic explorer, landed on the shores of North America.
My suggestion is that if you wish to learn the language of the first people here other than the Native Americans, learn Norwegian.
