However, shootings have fallen, and this is partially because the populations in some areas of Chicago are falling dramatically as people move out of the dangerous parts of the city.

Also - Illinois is not at an all-time high right now population wise; it actually lost a congressman (and electoral vote) as a result of the most recent census.
Show me data that illustrate that all decreases in homicides are only and directly related to increase in medical advances. I don't think you will find it. You also won't find any data showing a causal relationship with concealed carry, since Illinois doesn't currently have it.

Also, you are completely wrong about the Illinois population. It is at its historical high. The change in congressional representation has to do with a shift in population across the country. States that used to have virtually no population have increased in the past decades. Since the total number of reps is constant, states that used to have many lose them if their population doesn't increase at a high enough rate. Illinois is at nearly 13 million people and it has never been higher.

The words Midwest and Illinois are synonymous with Chicago. Therefore the too high this or too low lhat complaint falls in Chicago's lap - when *it* may have nothing to do with Chicago what so ever. The fact is there is more to the Midwest than one state, and more to Illinois than one county.

Crime is usually greater in larger cities. And when cities tire of the problems they usually find a useful resource to help deal with it. One community rounded up 16 thugs and charged them with the federal crime of belonging to a gang. They went to a federal holding area until trial. The ranks are being culled and thinned: one thug, one gang, and one neighborhood at a time.

Large or small, it still takes a community some time to get thuggery under control. Giving media attention and cutesy names for gang activity - instead of calling it what it is - fuels the fire rather than dampens the enthusiasm to create more problems

From what I've seen, the media simply refuses to report the truth.

Where is the crime happening?

What groups are the perpetrators of the criminal activity?
