Good God I hope so. Otherwise out Senators will just be another reason for me to dislike Indiana.

Anyone think there's an actual chance of a Democrat winning this thing? Also, anyone think there's a chance of Gregg beating Pence?

I wanted to add one more thing too. It's sad and horrible that we live in a country now where compromise and working together are hated. Remember when it was a good thing to bi-partisan?

This.

You are too young to know it, BRG, but Dick Lugar was a great representative in Washington and was a true Hoosier. He cared about the things we cared about, especially veterans causes.

Trust me, there would be no Indianapolis for you to crow about if it had not been for Dick Lugar. The fact you are crowing about his defeat tells me how little you know about the history of this city and this state.

I would have voted for Lugar in November. Now I will vote for Joe Donnelly, another good man.

Personally I had respect for Dick Lugar and believe leadership like his will be greatly missed.

Two very high profile senators have left Washington who had there feet firmly planted on hoosier soil, Dick Lugar and Bayh.

Those two names themselves are long mainstays in your state.

I will give Lugar his props as I've voted for him several times myself. Sadly, can't live life in the past and time has just passed him by. Was he great for Indiana, yes, the operative word being was. His greatest intangible was the ability work and compromise with others which Congress is just lacking and will only get worse. Two things that really got me was his address. Sorry, living in Virginia fulltime representing Indiana is just a farce. To top if off, a man who proclaimed to be so anti-loophole willingly and openly admitted to using an Indiana loophole just to keep getting reelected due to his residency while the SOS gets convicted. the POTUS last State of the Union that kept panning the camera to him showing nothing but the meanest scowl one could ever see. That in and of itself is very anti-Lugar of old and for me, showed where his heart was truly at. You can't hide hate. Sure when the cameras are around you can smile and whatever to put up the show but when no one is looking (or you think no one is looking), the true self always displays itself and for him, that was one ugly look.

I doubt Mourdock will win in November, this campaign was more anti-Lugar than pro Mourdock. Indiana might be GOP heavy but not Tea Party heavy. For me, I've sat and watched the GOP disrespect the Office of the Presidency at the drop of a hat. You do not have to like the POTUS personally but we've always had respect for the Office of the President and acted accordingly, friend or foe. These last 4 years have been an embarrassment displayed by the GOP from calling the man a liar to sticking their fingers in his face. If you can't respect the office of the president, you damn sure don't deserve the opportunity to hold it.

The scary thing to me, is Mourdock stated that compromise to him was getting dems to fall in line with the tea party. That isn't compromise, that is a dictatorship.

It is sad when a guy like Lugar, who has always been more concerned about getting the job done regardless of what side of the aisle was getting it done, and he is painted as a liberal baby killer. What's worse, is the mindless drones in the tea party actually buy that.

These are scary days to be a rational American.
