I just found this site and it seems interesting. I am searching for info on Brown County. My first visit was about 3 years ago and have been there several times since. I am seriously thinking of retiring in Brown County in about 3/4 years. I have relatives who recently purchased property in Brown County for the purpose of retirement. I think I would like to join them but would like to know more.

I am living in NWI currently but my heart is in the country. I am a gardener and enjoy solitude.

I would like to hear local opinions.

3gypsies,
Brown County is a beautiful place. Especially in the Fall when all the trees are changing. Brown County reminds me of a smaller version of Tennessee.

Thank you for your input. I appreciate it. I think it was the fall season that caught my attention.

Any other thoughts? I am opened to all good or bad. I plan to be there a long time.

Gypsies,
I have only visited Brown County a few times (for the Blues Festival in the fall). I love it and if I were retiring, I would find a little cabin in the woods, not too far from town and just enjoy the slower pace.
Bloomington or Indy is not that far if you want some excitement or need just a bit of "big city" to satisfy you. I would love to see it now, with all the red buds and other flowering trees in bloom, I bet its as breathtaking as the fall. Enjoy!

jodyrose,

It has been a while since I was on this site. I got a bit side tracked. I did go to Nashville a couple of weeks ago. Your right! Everything is in bloom. I think I'm bound for Brown County In.

Thank you so much for your thoughts.
