Hi im looking at buying a new construction home in Brownsburg. Im pretty new to Indiana just moved here from Florida. My wife is originally from Fort Wayne and she is currently a 4th grade school teacher in Fort lauderdale with plans on moving here in the summer after she finishes this school year. I know at this time teaching jobs are tight, but does anyone know of any elementary teaching jobs in Brownsburg or closeby communitys? She has taught for 7 years. Thanks for anyones help!!

Brownsburg itself is cutting over 3 million from it's budget and not replacing retiring teachers. I generally watch various Indianapolis news stations, and I have yet to hear of a district that is not making budget cutbacks. It's always difficult for an experienced teacher to relocate, but this is probably one of the worst times I recall in Indiana for finding a teaching job. She's going to have to start searching before she arrives, be prepared to be a substitute, and look at private school options. If you're counting on her salary for the new house, I would wait.

With our Governor cutting 300 million from education in next year's budget, no school is hiring at this time. However, there are always going to be jobs here and there, if you have a connection type of thing. If you are looking for a job, I would stay close to the bigger cities (Brownsburg would be good). Key areas I would look into our Fort Wayne, South Bend area, Indianapolis area, and Evansville area if you are looking at Indiana. Do you guys have to move to Brownsburg?

Thank you for your replies. We don't necessarily need her salary for a house but of course things would be abit looser if she did work. I work close to the Pyramids at Republic Airways, we looked a few homes in Brownsburg and liked the feel of the town( kind of being out in the country without the too far from everything drive) She might end up substitute teaching for the next year or so untill she can get her name out there.
