Me too! I was a history major who had these grand illusions of being a curator ...

It is a shame how little museums pay

What time period was your specialty?

Just wanted to write a quick update: Our trip was fantastic! Indianapolis is definitely an underrated city. Great, lively downtown, the Canal/Park area was sweet, and we had a great time walking around Broad Ripple. Thanks again for all of your help.

So what WAS your day? What did you hit besides the canal and BR?

I'm glad that you really enjoyed yourself. Something that we who live here forget is that Indy is a nice city.

Wait a minute....Were you here during the race weekend?

yep, it was the race weekend.

We went to the Indy Zoo (I've been to bigger zoos, but the layout here and access to animals was great), the State Museum (a little underwhelming), The Canal Walk (fantastic), we walked all around central downtown and ate and drank at a few places, and then Broad Ripple.

The Barbeaux Pizza is FANTASTIC, by the way.

What do you all you experts suggest in regards to an itinerary? Any must-see's or must-do's? With our baby in tow, we may be a bit limited.

Thoughts?
May I suggest a stroll around Monument Circle? It is located in the heart of downtown Indy and I always regard it as a great place to take a walk(weather permitting, of course) and I never tire of looking at that monument. Also, if you like history there is a CIVIL WAR MUSEUM at the bottom of the monument but I do not recall the hours since I have not visited the museum in nearly three years.

The Circle City Mall in the downtown area is also worth checking out with a variety of stores and places to eat as well as a movie theatre.
