That may be accurate, but zip codes can cover a large area. 46229 covers everything from the Post Road Ghetto to Cumberland, which is mostly white and has a per-capita income that's probably above the median household income of the former.

So, accurate, but not precise.

The worst areas along Post Road are north of 46229.

If you have a hard time looking at the accurate data, go to Google Maps, get the data, the zip code, and then get the zip code (46229), and go to Niche. It is 45% black, 44% white, and 7% Hispanic. I think that is the accurate data, correct me if you think I am wrong.
The 2010 census had the breakdown as 45% white, 39% black, and 7% Hispanic. Anything else is just a guess.

I live a 4 minute drive to Washington Sq. Mall, 2 minutes to Wal-Mart, etc..., so I know the area QUITE well. I've NEVER felt unsafe going to any of the cluster of businesses in that area. I live in the subdivision on German Church, halfway between Washington St and Prospect, and it's a very nice, peaceful area. Even around 21st Post/Mitt, it's a little more sketchy, but you shouldn't have any problems during decent hours.

It gets progressively worse once you start hitting between 30th-42nd St.
