A non-compete clause cannot limit you from pursuing your occupation. You really need to read your copy of the agreement, typically it can only be enforced when there are business secrets or industry contacts involved. In CA they are enforceable in very limited circumstances.

Not so in NY, FL and many other states. They can damn near legitimately prevent you from working in a related industry that would overlap with the same client base.

Basically you resigned with no cause by agreement with severance pay. Ex-employer will say same thing as letter indicated.

Go back if only to clear up the fired issue. Then quit or submit a resignation when you feel the time is right.

You can also put "Job Ended" which worked for a friend of mine who was fired and was never asked about it in the interview.

I thought severance pay only came after a layoff?

Usually when someone is fired they get nothing but a term letter.

Like many n this thread, I would go along with laid-off over fired.

But, the reason for this post, I wanted to add, never, under any circumstances, say you didn't get along with your boss, that your boss hated you, or there was mutual dislike. Never.

Almost every unsuccessful person will always blame others and the typical one is "<fill in the blank> hates me". It is a huge red flag indicating that you can't even recognize your own problems. In your case, I am sure it is all about the fact your boss hated you but the person interviewing you will not believe you as much as I do. He just does not have as big a heart as I.

I was like SUCK IT..just kidding,I told her I don't know that was pretty upsetting what I just went through. She said she could talk to her boss. I told her if she has anything else from any other company's to let me know...ALRIGHTY THEN...

What do you guys think that was about?
I would find out who your new manager would be first, and then consider it. Most people do not quit the company, they quit their boss. If the boss was the only issue then it wouldn't be a bad thing to mull over.

All you have to say is, "The job ended."

Whoever is interviewing you will push for elaboration. Laid off is Laid off end of discussion.
