How long before 'Kansas City Lawrence Metroplex' a thing?

And what's stopping it from happening in the present day?

It basically already is and has been for some time. Lawrence was added to the KC combined statistical area (CSA) in the 2010 census which. The KC CSA has around 2.5 million people.

It's not fully developed between Lawrence and suburban KC, but it's filling in rapidly, plus Lawrence is growing west, not east.

I've always looked at the Kansas City / Lawrence / Topeka / St. Joseph corridors as part of the KC Metro area, even though technically they're not a part of us. Sort of a minor expanded metroplex.

Surprise! We have duplicates of this thread with a second over in the KS Forum How long before 'Kansas City Lawrence Metroplex' a thing?

All three have a decent number of commuters. They just have their own identity and job base more so than Independence or Olathe.

Agree. They also have their own media markets.

I don't see all these communities being connected by continuous development any time soon. Even the K10 corridor is going to take decades to completely fill in.

Yes, JOCO would be wise to come up with a good zoning plan for long-term l development of the former Sunflower Army Ammunition Plant acreage.

It would be a tough sell even after its cleaned up. I would think people would be weary about living on a former site.

Well, I hadn't read any recent updates on it, so I assumed it was still being cleaned and remediated for potential development down the road. It would likely be annexed by De Soto I'm certain.
