That's okay lol. I am still not fond of Johnson County and still think Johnson County ruined KC. I do like some of the younger people from JoCo that have a different attitude toward the city, but I'm no longer interested in arguing with people like that and it's the main reason I stopped posting here.

I have been to KC probably a dozen times in the past few years and have not set foot on the KS side in years. There is still nothing there of any interest to me. Boring and extremely overacted suburbs that have done nothing but syphon the life out of KCMO for decades.

However this stadium is a big deal. Just like replacing the KCI terminal was. This is another major fork in the road for what kind of city KC wants a be. A has been city that starting declining in the 1960's or a city that is truly rebuilding and coming back. I hope it's the latter.

It wouldn't surprise me one bit if the Royals moved to another emerging metro area that is growing far faster.

Also glad to see you back, kcmo. As my main reason for visiting DC left a decade ago and now lives in Charleston, WV, I haven't had the chance to take stock of how your city has changed of late.

You make good points about the need for and usefulness of a downtown stadium if the Royals are to remain in KC. It would definitely improve the odds of that happening, but it seems to me that if they build it and continue to offer a lousy team, it won't make much difference.

I just hope the locals don't spend a decade arguing over it (most likely against, recalling the long argument over KCI).

I was living there when Kemper Arena was built. It was great for a few years and then gangs took over the area. It became unsafe to go anymore. Just like Bannister Mall. Big beautiful mall and the the gangs took over. Also Indian Springs, the Landing and so on. If they would build a new stadium downtown, it won't be safe to go to it in a few years. At least, they have kept the gangs at bay at Kauffman. It is located in the perfect place.

As of today, the Royals have 44 wins and 100 losses. They would probably lose to some minor league teams. Why waste millions building a stadium that will be mostly empty all the time?

They hope to con the taxpayers into paying for a new stadium. They’d have to use their own money to create a winning team.

Oh well, I'm sure the locals wouldn't care if the metro had only one major professional sports team.
There are many reasons why the Kansas City metro area keeps getting bypassed left and right by other more economically dynamic metro areas every 10 years.

Kansas City and St. Louis are both dying. Let them go.

Are these owners the same ones who took the team to the playoffs two years running and a World Series win in the mid-2010s?

If so, what spooked them?

They realized a team did not have to be good to generate millions in profits.
