Regarding the charity run, I wouldn't look at you like you had three heads. But I would look at you and ask why it is necessary for me to run/walk/skip rope/turn somersaults/juggle or do whatever in order to get you to give money to a charity. I mean, it's not as if that physical activity produced one iota of good for anybody. Now if it was putting up hay, chopping wood, picking up trash, removing graffiti or something like that....I could understand it.

They're charities that are related to the populations we work with. The children, who are developmentally disabled, typically participate in the events, so, really, it does do them quite a bit of good, from a physical standpoint and emotional/social ones, as well.

I understand and agree with you on this particular one. I'm sorry if you felt I was singling out this particular charity effort; that wasn't my intent. I was just talking about the generalized case of person "A" having to exert physical effort to coerce person "B" to donate money to a charity when the physical effort is meaningless (unless you look at it from an exercise standpoint).

Which is actually exactly what spurred the comment...the assertion that nobody in KC (or the Midwest, or whatever) exercises. I was just pointing out this actually happens to be the first place I've lived and worked where that's NOT been the case.
