I'm searching for accounting position in and around Kansas City. Many of the opportunities I've found are in Overland Park, Olathe, or Johnson County. I'll be living downtown, and wondered what commute time I should expect between work and home. Google Maps tells me the 25 mile trip should take 32 minutes on Highway 35. Given the daily rush-hour traffic, is this realistic or should I expect a longer commute?

Thanks

Sounds pretty realistic, you will probably be going opposite the heaviest traffic.

It really depends on where in Johnson County you get the job. If it is in Shawnee Mission, it would probably only be 10-15 minutes. If it is Olathe, you could be looking at 40 minutes or more.

I posted this twice already, but I'll try again and maybe it will stay this time...

I commute to/from Lee's Summit to 151st street in Olathe daily, taking 50->470->435->35.

To Olathe:
Depart at 7:15, arrive at 8:00
Depart at 6:50, arrive at 7:30

To Lee's Summit
Depart at 4:30, arrive at 5:00
Depart at 5:00, arrive at 6:00

These are average times, the ride home is always pretty variable... but it's a 30 mile one way commute to give you an idea.

This has nothing to do with a reverse downtown to olathe commute. Nothing at all. Why add confusion?

Reverse commute to Olathe is 40 minutes?

If you left Downtown at 7AM and drove for 40 minutes, you would be about 15 minutes south of freaking Gardner.

The drive from Downtown to anyplace JoCo is 15-30 minutes tops. You might have an occational slowdown on 35 near 635 when you return to Downtown in the evenings and if you have to take 69 south of 435 in the mornings, there could be some minor delays, but that's about it.
