A friend of mine reports that her brother-in-law's sister's home was destroyed in Reading last night. They have no basement, and luckily, they were out at a wedding when it hit. But theylost their whole home; only part of the kitchen remained. Hate this. Absolutely hate this and can't WAIT for summer stability to arrive so I can exhale.

May weather in KS is horrible unless one is a strom chaser. Many
May(s) I had rain totals in the 9-12'' range in Overland Park. Glad to hear your friend was okay.

And now Joplin, and a friend's mother-in-law had to be dug out of what was left of her home there. I am so weary of the troubles experienced by my friends, and I am onpins and needles now about what's coming here tomorrow and Wednesday. It is emotionally exhausting. I know places up north get hit, too, and the worst storm I've ever been in was in Chicago in May 1999. Still, if someone were to buy our house tomorrow, I'd go back. Springtime was always my favorite season of the year until we moved here.

The weather has changed everywhere so it is just unpredictable in general. I have friends across the US and MI where I come from has totally changed these last couple of years. Prepare for the unexpected in any season no matter where you are.
