I have had multiple back surgeries. Have degenerative disc disease & failed back surgery syndrome. I am moving for sure now. We found my husband a cardiologist, but now I need to find a Dr for myself. I have been under the care of a Dr who is a Pain Specialist for 5 years now for chronic pain from my back surgery. They do procedures that have really helped. The most recent thing was an ablation & I will need another one on the other side soon. I am looking for recommendations. My sister-in-law's mother see's an Orthopedist for this, but she is way over in Elizabethton. I don't mind driving to Johnson City if its a really excellent practice. I already drive 20 miles to my current Dr in Atlanta. It took me years & a lot of bad back drs to find the group I am with now. If it was not a 5 hour drive I would even consider staying with them. I have checked with my own Dr already to see if they know of anyone in that area & they do not unfortunately. I am sure there are other people who also have the same issues I do with lower back & residual pain. I am not looking for a surgeon. Have had the surgeries & honestly regretted it. It seems to have fixed some things & caused more issues in other ways. Any leads in this department would help me out a lot as we may be up there in 3 weeks & my Dr needs someone to send my extensive medical file to. If I bring it myself its about a dollar a page & was up to over 600 pages last month...lol.

Thanks so much!

Julie

Check the web site for your insurance company. I was able to find names of specialists my wife will need if we decide to move there. Finding them, in her network, is a major reason for considering TC area.

I just went out & looked on who our new insurance will supposedly be. The one practice it showed with that specific specialty was one called "Pain Medicine Associates" or PMA. They appear to be in Bristol, JC & Kingsport. Does anyone know of them? Or a particular Dr who is there that is good. I saw some negatives for a few of their Dr's on a website I found. That concerns me somewhat. It took me years after my accident to find a decent pain physician. I went through a lot of hell with a lot of different Drs until I found one who strikes a good balance & I can finally live life to its fullest. I do not want to lose that because I am going to be going back to work when my daughter starts school up there this fall. If anyone knows of this group or another Dr who is good even in Johnson City because I am used to driving to go to my Dr I would soooo appreciate the information. If someone has some negative feedback even on this group you can private message me if you don't want to put it out there for everyone. Someone I know had back surgery in Kingsport recently & had a horror story, but I don't believe this was her practice. I am going to make sure of that of course. I have been around the block with so many Orthopedists, Spinal Surgerons, Pain Specialist. The difference between a good doctor & a bad one when it comes to your back can be life changing or life limiting. Thanks so much!
