I'm from Kansas, moving to Knoxville next year to be near my mother's friends and (hopefully) get in state tuition at UT.

Anyway, just wondering if I could get opinions on east, north, south and west Knoxville. I have friends who live in Strawberry Plains, so that's really all I've ever been and kind of like living rural, but would really like something closer to the city.

Thanks

Caroline,

I would suggest that you start reading the forum and previous threads. You can also use the advanced search feature to find previous threads typing in keywords. There are a ton of threads on the different sides of town. There was a previous best/worst thread and it got out of hand and had to be closed. One persons best is another persons worst if you know what I mean.

Good luck with your potential move.

I agree with Beretta. "Best" and "worst" are subjective terms. And I just answered the same question hours before you asked it again. http://www.city-data.com/forum/knoxv...ses-local.html

However, if you are also asking about rural closer to the city there is some parts of South Knoxville that have a rural feel, as well as Powell, north Knoxville - just north of I-640 - as well as just southeast of Northshore Drive, etc. A check of Google maps will give you an idea. It can be rural-looking 10 minutes from UT.

Knoxville is more like a patchwork. You shouldn't rule out a whole sector of town because all sectors have some wonderful areas. If you give us a street name then we may be able to offer opinions.

Congrats on your move and like all the posters have stated, you can be easily within 20 to 3o minutes of UT and will just need to take some test drives and check out the area for yourself. I would probably suggest South and Seymour, as it sounds more like what you described your looking for.
