PC repair person in Halls area?
Did a search and did not see a thread about this. Does anyone know someone that is a computer tech or "geek" in their spare time? This is for the Halls area. Either a file got deleted, or a virus got in the machine, and they don't want to pay a lot or drop their computer off somewhere. I am wondering if there is someone who would go to their house, find the problem, explain the problem to them (and the complexity) and charge no more than $50 an hour. Someone honest and reliable. Thanks....

Being a "Tech Geek" myself. It is impossible to diagnose all systems while sitting in someone's home doing it. You indicated they have lost a file ?!?!? What does that mean? Is the computer not running ?
They may have wiped out there entire hard drive. Do they have rescue disks? What is Operating system ? Do they have an operating system disk ?
More information is better than less. You will have more accurate, faster and cheaper repairs that way.

Some friends of mine use Jess Prouty at 865-579-6579 or e-mail jjpro69@hotmail.com. He runs a mobile computer service in Knoxville. Don't know how much he charges but they've been very happy with him.

well, PCs are PCs. Most people that service them have to be up on all the operating systems. It's their email (Outlook) that's not working right. However if a virus entered the machine, I have no idea how you'd find or fix that, but a tech would.

Of course I am not talking about a Mac. They hardly ever catch viruses.

Outlook and Outlook Express are notorious for having problems. Delete the account then re-enter it. Often, that will solve the problem. Also, go to Microsoft.com to see if there are any known issues. Both are Microsoft products. Write down the error code. It will start with "OX."
If all else fails, don't use Outlook, just go to the webmail to retrieve the e-mail.
Hope this helps.
