Valet dudes got $5. Drinks? I usually buy my drinks in those little ABC shops, so no tipping needed.
Seriously, think about what's really going down:

The richest entity in the equation (The Casino) pays the poorest entity in the equation (The Worker) the absolute lowest amount allowed by law, therefore putting The Worker's survival in the hands of the second poorest entity in the equation (The Customer), who is now burdened with spending their own hard-earned wages just so that The Worker can have a livable wage.

What a mess!

Here in Australia there is no culture of tipping. Even in a small rural town of 5,000 people, a server at a restaurant still makes $18/hr+ and no one expects to give/receive tips. Yet the entrees are still priced less than your average Las Vegas restaurant!

IMO, the youngest generation, which can legally gamble at this point, don't seem that attracted to it. They would rather spend their thousands drinking and partying in Las Vegas, than in the casinos. I think they look at gambling as an old-person's sport.
i kind of agree with this... however take a look at the cosmopolitan on a fri or sat night.. it's all 20 somethings either spending huge money at the Marquee or at the tables....A grand a hand is nothing to them... Where the heck are they getting the money?

On the other hand, slot machines are dying imo.....

cash advances at 28% on a visa likely

many of the high rollers today seem to be foreigners.

BTW: NLVgal, reps to you for saying "My husband and I", and not, "Me and my husband", as so many do these days. I can't stand that ignorance and I bet it bugs you too.

I bet they wouldn't turn down a tip if offered.

Tipping really seems to irritate people from other countries, but it is part of the culture of LV. Servers here do not make 18 an hour (without tips) and yes, you are subsidizing the employer. People here pay taxes on tips ( even the ones they did not receive ) so if you stiff a waiter, it just cost him money to wait on you.

I would never stiff a waiter in LV - I'm just illustrating that if I can buy a Thai curry with rice that's enough to feed 2 people for $12, in a country with an $18/hr wage and 30-50% higher food costs, then someone in the U.S. is making off like bandits - and it's not the waiter or the customer.

I'm sorry Buzz. I always say My husband and I . I can't believe I didn't today. Our address labels has his name first. I'm from the old school.
