I rented a place in the 89148 zip code. I'm not moving until January, but I'm excited to have the housing out the way! I'm still on the search for a car here in El Paso and if I find one before January, I will come on to Vegas before January. There are two middle schools in that area and the reviews aren't too bad, plus I found out one of my daughter's old friends from Chicago attends one of the schools. Does anyone know what stores are in that area? Grocery? Shopping? Restaurants? I'm near the Venicia Apartments, if that helps. Thanks.

The Bad News...there is not one specific shopping center that you are close to.

The Good News...you have two excellent shopping areas that you are close to. One mile in either direction (north/south) will take you to (grocery) Albertsons, Smiths, etc. 2 miles to north on Charleston you have Boca Park (High End) center for shopping and Restaurants.

I eventually hope to move to a house, but I'm told these apartments are really nice. I bank with Chase, so that's good to know, as well as hospitals in close proximity. I learned that a child who went to school with my daughter in Chicago attends the school where she will be going. I'm getting so excited now that it's becoming more real! Thanks for the information.

Now, my sister lives in the 89147 zip called Summerlin. What is my area called? I'm in 89148?

I'm not 100% sure but 89147 is actually Spring Valley but borders summerlin at one end. When people say they live in "summerlin" it could be that they are close but not in the actual borders of the community. I usually ask people which summerlin neighborhood do they live in such as "the trails, Arbors, Hill ect.). I always refer to the 89148 zip code as "the south west" area of LV, but some people might live close to Rhodes Ranch and call it that just because its close by.

stupid question but if you are moving in January, why did you commit now? Apartment prices are going down.
