I have no idea why I have cox. I don't even watch TV. I have their phones and internet as well.

Only thing ever worth watching on TV are Rebel away games.

Hi Molly
When Moved here in sept I got a low
Promo rate, but no lock-in for the 2 yrs typical of them. I expect mine to go up @ the year mark.
If I could go OTA I would but I'm on the bottom of a 2 story building.
Maybe if you call them (after getting quotes from clear & direct etc) they will bring it down. I find that every 2 yrs either I switch providers or threaten to -
It's a time consuming pain.
Good luck.
Ps- I called mr. Antenna noted on this forum to find out about ota. They seemed knowledgeable & low key types. Think in henderson.

The problems we had at home with their service weren't with the connection completely dropping out, but it was very... sketchy. Latency would up and down like a roller coaster, and packet loss was the norm. Can't run VoIP on a connection like that.

When we moved to our current office, Cox didn't serve that street (they did, but they didn't realize it [long story]), so we got CenturyLink bonded DSL. That was better than the residential service we tried, but we still had problems. When I got a call from Cox a month or two later saying that they could hook us up, I was ecstatic.

If all you do is web browsing and email, you probably wouldn't notice the kinds of problems I discovered, but if you do anything that requires a stable, consistent connection for proper performance (VoIP, gaming, etc), Cox is worth the extra money.

Yep Cox is the best when its comes to internet in the valley until somebody else comes along. I ended up adding the flex watch cable package that basically gives me the local channels along with HBO and Cinemax for a extra $20 a month. Its worth it for me to have access to HBO programing again without all the extra glut of channels that I don't even watch.

Happy with Netflix, Hulu Plus and a digital antenna at home. Cox has lousy customer service and our internet service has been erratic lately. I'm almost nearing the point of dropping Cox with our internet service.

Recently, I tried to help my neighbor who could not figure out her cable service charges, the Cox customer service person was so rude and just hung up on us.

A Century Link rep stopped by my house the other day to tell me that they had just made their gig service available on my street. I'm moving, so didn't care, but if you are in 89031, you might want to call them.

We switched from CenturyLink to Cox back in August. Went from phone + 3.0 Mbps DSL internet for $39.99 to phone + 10Mbps cable for 44.99, price protected for 5 years. Don't need their cable package because we use OTA and Netflix, so we haven't had any complaints since switching. Plus, the people at CenturyLink were just incompetent.

Just deny it & tell them their equipment is in error.

A famous economist once said, "Nothing is good or bad save the alternatives make it look that way" (oh wait -- I'm the one who said that).

We have Cox here, and Comcast is our cable provider in our vacation home in Park City.

Cox customer service & tech support is OUTSTANDING compared to Comcast. With Comcast, calling their tech support, I can be on hold waiting listening to Muzak for 45 minutes. Comcast is completely unapologetic. Need a tech to come to my house? 14 day waiting period is not uncommon.

Cox, in contrast, answers the phone & I get to a real human being in a few minutes. If I need a tech, I can usually get one scheduled in 2 to 3 days.

I consider Cox to be head & shoulders better than Comcast.
