So I'll need couch, coffee table, dinette set w/chairs. Where should I go? (If this was N.Y., someone would say go F yourself)

Craigslist, some of the better thrift stores such as Deseret Industries are places to start. Even the local Freecycle sometimes has nice stuff.

No, speaking as a New Yorker, I doubt you'd get someone telling you to go F yourself, but get a recommendation to check out set furniture sales at prop shops, estate sales outside the city and of course, craigslist.

For vegas, probably check craigslist or the the thrift stores in the wealthier parts of the city.

Good luck hunting

I've had bad luck with craigslist in Las Vegas most of the time. People either don't respond or the item I want is sold within an hour of being posted. Things go fast.

Some people have told me to check out the LV Swapmeets because that's where stuff really is. I haven't done that yet so I can't say if it's good advice or not.

Also Colleen's Consignments was recommended for used discount furniture.

Colleen's Consignments on Rainbow closed.. the auction was last week. Not sure if they moved or closed all together...

There was some nice stuff at Deseret.

There were two locations on Rainbow. The one farther north on Cheyenne by the Walmart, and the one near Oakey. Looks like the one on Cheyenne closed.

Several good suggestions already.

Here's one that may not have crossed your mind: Check out Costco and/or Sam's Club. A surprising amount of my furniture has come from there. Off the top of my head: Coffee table (real wood, espresso color) from Costco originally $350 marked down to $149.97 at end of season (new in box). Bathroom vanity (espresso color w/granite top) marked down from $325 to $162.50 (display, very minor nicks). 2 off-white armless padded chairs w/throw pillow (kinda retro, I guess more Euro-design), marked down from $150 to $59.97 each (someone else at the Summerlin Costco saw them just after me & tried to bribe me to let them have them - glad I didn't do it as I love the chairs & my ferret has adopted one as HER lounging chair, tho she does make a habit of literally 'throwing' the throw pillow off the chair ) Costco is fairly random in terms of timing, you just need to pay close attention. All of the Costco stuff is quality & houseguests expect it to have cost a bundle.

I've gotten several good deals with Sam's Club & they all seem to be in the fall (maybe that's their end of season or when they turn over product). Leather couch (display, basically new with one minor scratch) marked down from $900 to under $300 (had it for 4-5 years, sitting on it as I write this). I also got a leather loveseat years ago in Chicago (still have it) for $244 (I think - that number sticks in my head) which I believe was originally $700ish. The best deal I got with them was a dark mahogany kitchen table I'd been watching marked down from $400+ to $99.91 (brand new in box, last one - found out it was 2nd markdown because it wasn't selling, likely because the sign was in a different location than the box - I was the first one to ask & be persistent, so I guess it was a combination of luck & persistence.) With all this espresso stuff, betcha can't guess the color of my kitchen cabinets?

Costco & Sam's Club may be a challenge if you're on a strict timeline, but it's always worth keeping your eyes open & looking for the occasional deal on stuff like this. You need to be prepared to jump on them because they often disappear quickly & when they're gone, they're gone. For anyone else on the forum, you may be surprised what you find from time to time at either store.
