Hello all,

Looking to purchase my first firearm this coming weekend at the Cashman center August 29-30. Since this is my first time I am looking for advice. I have read the gun-show is best bang for your buck. My questions are:

1. Are the prices negotiable? How low can I go? I am looking at a $1000 for a single firearm.

2. I am looking at a handgun or carbine, I am looking to shoot at the range mostly and of course home defense worst case scenario. If you had around $1000 what would you get at the gun-show? I was thinking the Beretta CX4 storm 9mm.

3. Is there a way to get free tickets to the gun-show?

4. Should I buy ammo there or do you recommend a place? I live in the southwest.

5. If you feel there is a better place to buy a firearm, can you recommend one? Anywhere in Vegas is fine.

6. Are there classes you would recommend in proper training and maintenance of the firearm?

And thank you of course.

Check out Discount Guns for Sale - Buds Gun Shop to give you an idea of what a fair price to pay for a gun. If you can't come close to Bud's prices at the gun show than just buy from Bud's and have it shipped to a local FFL dealer here in Nevada. Buds has a list of approved dealers but most any will take care of it for $25 or so.

Definitely check online for going rates. You may or may not score a deal at a show. At least you can look before buying. Personally, with how the prices have dropped, I would pick up an AR-15 and a case of ammo and be at or below your $1000. Entry level AR's can be had very reasonable these days if you shop around.

There are so many options though, it's hard to recommend something. Lol. I'd check the show out and see what you like and what feels good in your hands, or just start checking gun shops for the same reason. I can't give any recommendations on those in the valley because I haven't purchased any firearms since I moved here. Have fun and be safe!

Daniel Defense, Smith n Wesson, Spikes Tactical, Colt, PSA, Wyndham. Those are some off the top of my head.

Labor day is coming, and with it all the major gun dealers are having Labor day sales.
I priced out a S&W M&P 9mm - for around $500

Just remember that .22 ammo is still hard to find, so I would stay away from a .22

Advice? Don't buy one. It does nothing for you.

It does make recreational shooting at the range, however, more difficult when you have to throw the bullets toward the target with your hand
