That's good advice if the vehicle has a fan that's directly connected to the motor. But some of these newer cars cool the radiator by electrical fans plus forward motion air flow. When the A/C is turned off the fans are turned off also. In those vehicles I found that turning the A/C temperature up very high together with increasing the engine RPM by down shifting is a good plan. By increasing the engine RPM the coolant moves faster through the radiator.

Big increase in HP with the V6 compared to the 4 cylinder. You should be able to pull that trailer without any problems.

This is the way I have gone from Cape Cod to Las Vegas and back again at least 5 times with no problems:
Notice by-pass of NYC area...

Cape Cod 2 Vegas

From WV that's the same route I usually take. Depends on time and if we'd like to see something different.

BTW: When you pass through WV, stop somewhere and pick me up a dozen pepperoni rolls. Mmmmmm good.

I-80 does not go through Denver. I-70 goes through Denver. I think you took I-70.

Because I-80 is a major east-west artery for large trucks transporting goods to & from the Port of Oakland, it is always plowed and rarely closed for more than a half hour.

The air coming out of the A/C is always cold and the passenger cabin temperature adjustment doesn't have any effect on it. Turning the temperature up in the passenger cabin just opens a damper to mix the always-cold A/C air with hot air to get to the desired temperature in the cabin.

The A/C compressor is activated by a clutch. My impression is that the cabin temperature influences how often the clutch is activated.
