Looking at cars and considering black. Is that just stupidity with the weather here in Vegas? Fwiw the car would be sitting outside all day while at work. My business associate with a black car tells me don't do it. Thoughts?

You have to remember not only is it hotter, but also shows all the dust. I prefer white cars here, even know black looks better.

Years ago I parked a light colored car in the sun for several hours on a hot summer day. It still was murder for a few minutes until the ac could cool it down to even a bearable temp. I couldn't grip the steering wheel at all for another minute or two. I now absolutely refuse to park in the sun on extremely hot days. I'll park in a garage even if it means walking a lot further. And a black car would certainly be a lot worse.

I wish our car was silver! And we have black leather seats. Heated! Lol, we came from Chicago.

One white truck. One "champagne" car. I wouldn't have a black car in this climate if it was given to me. (If it had a big bull or a prancing horse as a hood badge and 12 cylinders, maybe. But still. Black may be beautiful. But not for a Las Vegas car.)

My thoughts are, do what YOU want to do, not what others think you should do. If you want a black car, get one. And tint the windows. When you are in the heat, i don't care what color car you have, it's hot in there!

Assuming you have the car hand washed (so it doesn't get swirls) and detailed regularly, you might like it for one or possibly two days after it is washed. The rest of the time you'll hate it. If it doesn't spend most of its time in a garage or covered parking, you'll hate it all the time.

My last car was black. It was pretty when freshly washed. Otherwise always looked dusty. But I still loved it. The inside temp isnt going to vary THAT much. I personally don't like white or silver cars ; to me it's boring and life's to short to drive a boring car. Signed, the owner of a yellow Beetle convertible that sometimes has eyelashes.

Edit: anyone here who owns a silver or white car, please don't take offense. Drive what YOU like, it;s just not for me.

I wouldn't own a black car, regardless of location. Too hard to keep clean.
