Those who survived the great depression were those with the least to lose.

maybe before we kick over, we should write a check and keep it in our pocket in the casket... never know for sure if "you can take it with you"

LOL I'm definitely not a Boomer. I don't have any children... on the books anyways.

Who the hell would want children in the political and economic climate of the past 15 years?

Nobody! But then again I don’t see what the appeal ever is of spending every single day dealing with that, versus doing whatever you want to be doing. Baffling. Certainly thankful that other people do it, though, go them! Just happy it’s not my life.

Some people should never be parents. Thanks for not procreating!

I have a slightly different view. Having seen my elderly father suffer through some life-threatening health issues a few years ago, it further reinforced my belief people should have children and focus on raising them to be competent, critical-thinking adults. My father was especially grateful that I was there to be an intelligent voice to communicate with all of his physicians and manage his personal affairs while he was ill. I strongly believe my children will do the same for my wife and me if we ever found ourselves in a similar situation, and at this time I am glad I will not need to worry about the state or some other unrelated party making critical decisions on my behalf.

I'm not opposed to having children but the situation in the states has been effed up since 9/11. No decent jobs anywhere, ridiculous inflation, ridiculous housing prices, a sour and toxic political environment, universal electronic surveillance, the list goes on...

This is not living, it's subsistence. Why bring a child into this? Who of typical child bearing age can even afford to have one anyways? Most college grads are in so much debt and salaries so low they can't even afford to move out of their parents' houses.
