They are going to play the NFL season but probably without fans the whole season. Everyone will be watching on TV which will still have good ratings. I did read they cancelled the preseason games.

Default a good thing that happened to you today...

Every cloud has a silver lining? This morning they all had gold linings. Of course I was on my bike during this beautiful sunrise, so no pics. That's two mornings in a row.

I feel bad for them too curiousgeorge5.

I saw the preseason is cancelled and MGM announced layoffs for most their entertainers.

The Governor today announced some bars in some counties may open while others may stay closed. He's doing away with the phased reopenings and focusing on long term mitigation efforts.

He called for more enforcement of these mitigation efforts which the city said they're hiring 100 more people to become enforcers. They're only targeting businesses it seems and not individual people.

The phased reopenings weren't working the way they laid them out anyways. Casino hotels were supposed to open in Phase 4 but we only got to Phase 2. So it was a hodgepodge already when they dropped it and started focusing on mitigation.

Not enforcers - they are outreach ambassadors who educate & train.

Ok, thx. I understood it as the city is passing out fines to businesses that don't enforce social distancing.

From Sisolak yesterday:

The governor said he would like to see enforcement officers operating in municipalities, zip codes and specific industries that are seeing increases in cases, hospitalizations and contagion rates. He also expressed frustration at the efficacy of some local enforcement efforts.

"I'm tired of educating. I'm tired of ambassadors that deal with this stuff," Sisolak said. "I need enforcement officers that are going to go out and punish the bad guys and not punish the good guys."

Clearly, Sisolak is frustrated. At the same time, from a practical perspective, there is not much he can do regarding enforcement other than broad shut-downs. The State isn't in a position to do policing at the local level. In that same article, The city of Las Vegas responded to Sisolak's comments by saying the city is taking the directives seriously:

Quote:
Last week the city worked to put another 100 people in the field to step up our enforcement efforts. Our compliance ambassadors are added eyes to help our enforcement officers. They are concentrating on businesses and on sports fields. We believe this is many more field staff than other jurisdictions.
Soooo.... another 100 "compliance ambassadors." Note part of the focus is on sports fields - outdoor venues where experts say transmission risks are lower than in indoors environments.

The head of our HOA specifically asked about enforcement. She was told that if one of the "ambassadors" found a location that is not in compliance they can make everyone leave and close down the establishment immediately.

We are going through something similar with our HOA pool. The compliance information arm of the health district is completely lacking. No COVID requirements information anywhere on the site, no one seems to know for sure what is required. The enforcement arm however, is on top of things. They know, to the letter, what is required and are very willing to inspect and fine. They are very unwilling to give you a heads up though. If they come out, they WILL find something wrong. This has proven to be a very expensive learning method.

Fascinating. It sounds like your HOA president is speaking with some specific authority & information/knowledge rather than just what we all read in the Review-Journal.

How does your HOA president have this kind of information? For example, is a relative one of these "ambassadors?" Or has an "ambassador" contacted the HOA directly - and hence the HOA president was on the receiving end of such counseling? Something else?
