I was in Vegas for a visit last week. I have a friend there and may relocate myself. As we sat at the bar in the MGM grande two prostitutes approached us. I was offered the $300 special. My friend was offered something similar. We both dismissed them. Everybody at the bar was laughing as they made their way through the casino. Then a bit later a few more came. I impersonated a law enforcement officer. I said Im a member of the Vegas PD. I pretended to reach for a badge which I did'nt have. She along with her friend did not stick around to call my bluff. They were gone. My friend enthusiasticly played along with me and said, "call down to the station and get some people up here." They ran through the casino and almost knocked some guy over. The bartender gave us both free drinks. According to my friend and the bartender on duty this is a regular occurrence.

It is, but many of the bartenders look the other way or take a cut for referrals. These two must have been "weekend warriors" and not part of the usual rotation.

Impersonating a LE officer, huh? A gross misdemeanor, borderline felony depending on the circumstances compared to the petty misdemeanor of prositution. Hmmm? I see an arrest... Just kidding. I actually know a few guys who have done that. It is kinda funny how the Adam Henry's (police code for hooker) react. Gotta do what works I guess. Just be careful to not impersonate to an undercover VICE officer trying to nail potential johns. That night would end badly for you. Good job though, hopefully they were weekend warriors and will think twice before returning.

Hah. Sounds like a funny night.

Next time say you're with metro (that's what we call the police force out here).

Default Managing Prostitution

Once heard a Senior Marriott executive do 15 minutes on how you manage prositution. A hotel guy does not really want to run the ladies out...but he does want to control it so it does not get in the face of those who would be offended. A very tricky balance...enough but not too much. Virtually every where I have been on the strip gives blatant hookers the heave ho. But the more discreet ladies are not bothered.

And some times it is hard to tell the blatant from the ladies from LA or Prescott who are just out to party hard.

Yeah, as someone that has worked in public safety/law enforcement before, I can say that the OP is lucky that the ladies did not call his/his friend's bluff lol. Regardless, a simple "no thanks I'm not interested" is probably the best bet for future reference. I also imagine that the Vice President/Director of Security for MGM Grand might be interested in knowing that prostitutes frequent his/her establishment, but in reality I'm sure that as long as they are not causing a major disruption, no harm is done.

Legend has it that Dr. Wynn has all the prostitutes buried on the Wynn/Encore grounds. At least the pine trees and water fountains smell nice....lol

Most of those hookers are secretaries and school teachers from LA picking up a little weekend party money. The proof is that if you said Vegas PD to a local she'd know you were full of it because there ain't no Vegas PD.

I've never been hassled by hookers in Las Vegas since that one sheriff back in the 70s let it really get out of hand, and they had taken over the sidewalks up and down the Strip. The next sheriff said he'd clean it up if elected, and he did in about two weeks. In New York City I was accosted at every exit of the very expensive hotel I was staying in, and not by just one or two. There would be a ten or fifteen blocking every door.

I can take you to any small town in America and find you a hooker in about fifteen minutes though; so it's not a Vegas thing. It's not called the world's oldest prifession for nothing.
