I have used two people, Handyman Matt and TJ Ward, and both were suboptimal. I would not recommend either one. I had a simple problem of a busted shower cartridge that was not properly fixed by Handyman Matt. When I asked him to return to complete the job he simply did not return my phone calls (by then I had already paid him via paypal). I got TJ Ward's info from a friend and he was able to fix the problem, but his prices were high. A few months to several months later (less than a year) the problem recurred and he was unable to warranty his work. Finally I called my homebuilder and the recommended Focus Plumbing, and they fixed the problem fast, properly and cheap ($90 labor, part was sent free from Moen) and the problem has not recurred. For plumbing issues, I would not recommend using a handyman, just go with Focus and save yourself some money and hassle.

To Wakupcall, I will try Juan in the future for other issues. thanks!

I've had a heck of a time finding a reliable and good handyman. I have many projects that I'm sitting on just because I can't find someone. If you find someone you like and is affordable I'd appreciate a private message with their information.

Most of us could use a good handyman, so if you have a recent recommendation, please share.

Just to make sure we are on the same page, people are asking for a "good handyman" not a "cheap handyman" the reason I say this is that in the past I have passed on the name of my handyman whom I still use and he gave a couple of bids but got little work except from people who own rental property. (Who still use him)

Homeowners were just shopping which I guess is fine. The good handymen don't have time to run around and spend all day giving bids.

I have my guy busy as a general contractor right now building a bedroom addition for me so he is tied up but down the road I would be glad to refer him for people who seriously want some work done. He does everything for my rentals, sheetrock repair, paint, stucco, re grouting of tile countertops, carpentry, building shower stalls etc.. I agree it is hard to find good service people. I called 3 electricians listed on yelp with good reviews to do a simple job of installing 2 landscape transformers and do a line test of the existing lines. Not one of the 3 even called me back. Granted it would have been a small job but I would have paid the going rate.

I find that even in a city with arguably 18% unemployment that it is hard to find good subcontractors. The good ones always seem like they are busy.

Packrat1 I would appreciate that name. We are going to need two bathrooms redone this fall. DM me if you don't want to put it here.

Edit: By redone I mean gutted.

I don't have any work to be done at this point, certainly not a bathroom remodel. I was just collecting info for future use. So no need to post the name on my account. Thx tho.
