im looking to move in early 2009.
a home in the price range of 130k-160k
dont need much of a yard.
id like to know which areas have the "best views" of the strip, without actually being on it; or even near it for that matter.
ive been to extreme north las vegas, thats why im asking; from the condo i stayed in, it had excellent views of the city and mountains.
any help is good help. thanks in advance.

I'm afraid one has to spend a great deal more than $160 if they want a strip view or settle for a less than desirable neighborhood right by the strip.

Possible in Provident (89166) or some of the neighborhoods behind Rhodes Ranch (89148) maybe?

im not saying the best views in the city. but it would be nice to have a nice view from your home you know. and yes 160k 2-3 bedrooms. would settle for condo if a home with a strip view is impossible.

NW and North have suitables places. Some places along Horizon Ridge in Henderson. You need to get out where the land rises. Lots of particular units in Centennial Hills. Some behind or around Lone Mountain. There are a number of condos that have views from some units.

There are some inexpensive homes, mostly condos and townhouses, around Lake Mead and Hollywood Blvd. Some really good views from up there, BUT might not be the best neighborhood. You sort of get what you pay for up there. Its not TERRIBLE, but I'd rather live in a place where I feel safe, than have a nice view.

I just saw 69K for a 3/2 in Centinial Hills. It was a first floor, though. Built in 2004. It shouldn't be much more to be on the second floor, and yes it does look like you would have killer views up there. It gets a "walk score" of 9, though. 5 miles to the nearest library. When people on this forum say no way, that means you probably can...they are in denial about the dramatic daily price plunges. Hell, ziprealty just changed their search parameters so you don't have to include everything up to 100K. You can start with 50K or 75K.
