I don't care about cannabis. I don't smoke it. (Or chew it, or whatever.) But I don't care if people do. You don't care. And I'll bet most of the right-minded folks here don't care, either.

But our stupid, conservative, "we have the right to invade your privacy" government and it's drooling supporters DO care.

Way to harsh our mellow....
Probably Buzz's crop. They didn't find the rusted-out VW bus that he drove from West Virginia on the property, did they?

Growing Marijuana on your own land. OK.
Growing it on someone else's land. Not OK.

Must be hot in Las Vegas.

Was talking to my brother in Milwaukee yesterday and I observed my friend the tatooed Russian was completing truck driver school and marrying the bearded lady who swallows snakes which he was understudying to make some side money on the strip.

This must be Las Vegas...

It is kind of to the point of insanity. Making something that grows in the ground illegal but legalizing a beverage that's man made and ruins millions of lives. I don't smoke either and I think it's pretty ironic that they can't figure out it would make more money to simply legalize the stuff. I think the government just likes having a good list of backups to blame things on. Doped out hippies don't have much credibility anyway so if we can't blame the terrorists anymore the hippies will be next.

It would be legal if they could figure out how to tax it

I've never understood this war on drugs that's been going on all over the world for
decades. Billions have been spent trying to stop the people who want to take drugs
doing so. Why? You've got me. All thats happened is that it's made people at the top
of the drugs trade rich. Our jails are full of foreign drug mules that were caught, lowly
drug dealers and users. Much crime is committed by addicts robbing shops, and mugging
people. All that needs to be figured out is how to sell them safely and legally, keeping drugs
away from kids. Plus you get the added benefit of good quality heroin killing off by overdose
much of societies dross. All I see on the news is police boasts of giant drugs seizures, but it
does'nt stop the supply on the streets.

It was never a war meant to be won. Just as the war against terrorism can never be won. You don't win against ideas. In fact, our very presence occupying countries has the interesting effect of making more people want to sign up to be terrorists. The war against drugs is a band aid effect at best. Realistically more like a band aid on a severed limb. Completely useless.

The heart of the issue is actually why people feel the desperate need to escape reality. As a society and possibly as a world we hesitate to acknowledge that at some point we have gone terribly wrong. We can barely sustain ourselves without medicating to escape the totally insane, lazy way of lives most of us live. For christ sake, most people have to actually go out of their way to exercise. Life has become so convenient that we are practically bored to tears.

The legalization of drugs rests, largely, with the too-powerful prison guard unions, police unions, attorneys, the liquor industry, the pharmaceutical companies, any group with vested interests in keeping drugs illegal.

Wouldn't you cry an ocean of tears if some prison guard or police officer lost his job due to lack of "customers"?

And as long as we still have China as a "sugar daddy" we can still throw away $40-50k a year per inmate in our prisons!

The inevitable bankruptcy of our country: I pray for that to happen!
