Buzz, thanks for the additional information... It's definitely something I'll keep in mind if I ever decide to buy out there.

Who's talking about buying? I'm talking about finding a broad with a nice place and moving in with her.

Be careful about renting a house in Vegas, so many people have rented homes that were foreclosed on, and they had to move. It is such a hassle to move, I would just rent an apartment.

Electric is high in Vegas.

do your research prior to posting, your other post said there were no buses near aliante, and you were wrong.. yet again!

The electric is EXTREMELY high in Vegas, at least compared to Phoenix where I am from. I just moved again on the first of this month, but the apartment I was staying previously had a bill of $400 last month just for electric, and this is an apartment. I have no idea how you are paying $280 for a three story house, unless you are keeping the ac at 90 degrees or someting.

Actually, compared to other parts of the country our utilities were cheap until the last few years. But they are still lower than most other cities'. The problem is that we no longer have anyone like the former Public Service Commissioner, Scott Craigie, to fight for us. When a utility wants an increase now, it is just rubber stamped. The old PSC is now the PUC, and they aren't a consumer protection agency anymore; they are a utility protection agency now.

Default Re:

Ok, for apartment analysis purposes only, I live in a 700 sq ft 1bedroom/1bath apartment, which is all electric, and my highest bill since November was last month, $89.30. In Buffalo, where I used to live, I had a 450 sq ft apartment that was also all electric, and my highest electric bill was $178.00 in January. Extreme heat vs Extreme cold...really?? Is Vegas really high for electricity? Even my parents' gas bill this past winter was $325.00 in Buffalo. FYI - they were not even living at the house, they move to FL for the winter, and the thermostat was set at 55 degrees! The house did not have AC.

This is why I moved out of NY! My electric bill in December was $32.00!

Holy cow folks! That's some expensive electricity. I rarely paid over $20 in Ohio for a two bedroom apartment. I can see an expensive couple of months in the summer, but what does it look like over the course of a year? I guess I better invest in mice to generate electricity.

But do you heat with electricity in Ohio, and do you even need a/c there? What's your gas bill in the winter, or do you heat with oil?

Why do you need an apartment, Doctor? You should have plenty of room in your Type 40.
