My 2ndxwifewhatzername was from Minnysoda.....I"ve been there in both seasons.....frozen and road repairs.

There's always the poor, the homeless, they're among the friendliest.

I wish I didn't live so far away from bars that the poor patronize, being too fearful of drinking and driving.

The neighborhood bars within 6 blocks of me are not friendly, sometimes not even the bartenders. People sit there drinking, playing the slots, you're fearful of interrupting them and even saying hello.

You can get always get an all-day bus pass and meet up with lots of friendly people, in the bus, at bus stops.

Really? I LOVE the bars by my house! From day one, they were friendly, easy to talk to, welcoming...I have had great conversations there, even with the patrons. Not all of them, but that is true anywhere. Even when I lived on Eastern and we checked out a few there...all but one were great times, great people.

(The poor patronize bars??)

I don't dispute that most poeple in Las Vegas are .....standoffish.... I know I am....I am perfectly happy having only a nodding acquaintance with my neighbors... When I leave work after dealing with 'touristas' all day I don't want to talk to poeple that I don't know well...add to that the fact that MANY of the long time residents have found that sooo many people do not survive Las Vegas. You make friends and next week they run back to Keokuk cause 'it's tooo hotttt'

ALL of my friends outside of work have been here 5 or more years.....I think you have to factor all of that into the mix....

Plus....out west there seems to be more of a "mind your own business" attitude....

We ain;t nasty....just standoffish

That bein said......WELCOME TO LAS VEGAS Air

In Vegas terms, that's called doubling-down.

You know - my mother used to say " Life is what YOU make it. "

I am from North Dakota and my wife and I are planning on buying a "winter home" in Las Vegas.
I am so excited to experience what Las Vegas and Nevada will have to offer. The shows, the shopping and all the opprtunities that a "city" has to offer. I, personally being a photographer, can't wait to see the natural wonders of the area. The desert, the mountains, Hoover Dam, the lakes, the Grand Canyon and the National Parks within a days drive away.

Also, for us, the heat your winters have to offer - the real reason we are buying in Vegas. YES, I said heat! We left Bismarck the second week of January in 32 BELOW zero temps and arrived in Vegas at 62 degrees - WOW! - that was nice.

With that being said. I can even find positives even about the winters in North Dakota. I am trying to make the best out of life cuz I am the only one that can do that.

We are not standoffish. We just have a deep respect for the privacy for others and mind our own business. I much rather have the simple nod or hello than the neighborhood snoop bringing you cookies and then spying on you all hours of the day and night to report the neighborhood friar your business at their weekly bridge club session.
