Do I just abandon my cart and walk up stairs to eat or what? The place just has a yuppie feel to it, especially around that organic section. Makes me break out in hives.
let me tell you what i have planned today - my girlfriend and I are bringing our two little ones to Wegman's and leaving them in "W Kids" while we get sushi and go upstairs to have lunch! Now you tell me, how can you beat that? When lunch is over, we'll shop, grab the kids and everyone is happy.

BTW, Halibut is fish

LOL You know, I think it's a matter of just giving it a chance. I also have yet to do so, but I know that most everyone does love the store so I am guessing it doesn't take long to form a love for it as well lol. I got the same exact feeling that you did when first going, and that's why I then continued to shop at my original grocery store. I know where everything is, the aisles are larger, etc. I did find that in Wegman's where you'd think the ketchup is (for example), it is not. It's in a different aisle than it would be in any other grocery store. (May not be ketchup in particular, but there were a few things that I cannot remember offhand that I was thinking - why in the world would that item be here????? And how annoying that it took me an extra 15 minutes just to find it). Just had to add my two cents and be the only one to agree with you hahaha.

They have a large room with games and attendants. I think the kids have to be potty trained and maybe over 3? Under 6? It's a short range of ages. We moved here when my youngest was four and we only used it a couple of times, but it's a great service.

I think they try to mimic Ikea's 'kid in storage' service.

I'm not sure who is copying whom. We went to one when we lived in upstate NY in the late 70's. Whoever came up with it, it's a good idea!

I'm pretty sure Ikea has had that going on in other countries for a very long time.

perhaps i was a bit hasty. i forced myself to go back and it was still overcrowded and i felt as if someone would run me over if i stood between them and their humus bar...but wigmans does have good prepared food. i got some great meatballs and their chinese food is amazing. it's expensive, but it was worth it. i also took my cart to that little checkout place next to the chinese area, so i didn't have to go through the tiny checkout aisle. i think i'll go back again, but just stick to the prepared foods section. i've found nothing of value in the rest of the store.
