Hicksville is the 2nd largest hub of the LIRR, second to Jamaica.

It is also right by the LIE and Northern State.

It is the most convinent place for both your needs, alongside Mineola as a close second.

Since all you've mentioned is geographical needs- these two places suit you the best.

We liked Hicksville when we were there. The only negative may be the schools if you care. What is the budget?
